Multi-cavity dies are widely used in rubber vulcanization, aluminum extrusion, and sheet metal punching. Multi-cavity dies are an important type of injection mold. In injection molding, multi-cavity dies are commonly used for mass production of PET preforms and caps. PET preform dies are developing towards multi-cavity designs. Internationally, Netzsch has launched a 192-cavity PET preform preforming machine, Husky has showcased a 216-cavity PET preform preforming die, while the current mainstream level in China is approximately 48 cavities.

In aluminum extrusion, the "one die, multiple cavities" technology is a production process that can improve yield, production efficiency, and profile quality. In rubber vulcanization, cold runner dies save material, reduce scrap, and improve product quality. Furthermore, in precision manufacturing, multi-cavity array processing can be used for machining multi-cavity array parts such as BGA packaging molds.

In cemented carbide forming, multi-cavity die technology is applied to the production of cemented carbide rods. For example, the technical team at Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Tungsten High-Tech Materials Co., Ltd., has made progress in multi-hole mold technology, and its molding volume of a certain product exceeded 100 million pieces for the first time in 2025. This technology has also promoted the domestic substitution of high-end cemented carbide rods (such as PCB drill rods).
