A modular plastic mold for compression molding, extrusion molding, injection molding, blow molding, and low-foaming molding mainly comprises a cavity mold with a variable cavity, consisting of a cavity mold base plate, cavity mold components, and a cavity mold assembly clamping plate; and a punch mold with a variable core, consisting of a punch mold base plate, punch components, a punch assembly clamping plate, a cavity cut-off assembly, and a side cut-off assembly plate. The coordinated changes of the punch, cavity mold, and auxiliary molding system allow for the processing of a series of plastic parts of different shapes and sizes.

 

With the rapid development of the plastics industry and the continuous improvement in the strength and other properties of general-purpose and engineering plastics, the application range of plastic products is constantly expanding, and the consumption of plastic products is also increasing.

 

A plastic mold is a tool for producing plastic products. It consists of several sets of parts, within which there is a molding cavity. During injection molding, the mold is clamped on the injection molding machine, molten plastic is injected into the molding cavity, cools and solidifies within the cavity, then the upper and lower molds separate, and the product is ejected from the mold cavity via the ejection system. Finally, the mold closes again for the next injection molding cycle; the entire injection molding process is cyclical.

 

A typical plastic mold consists of two parts: a moving mold and a fixed mold. The moving mold is mounted on the moving platen of the injection molding machine, while the fixed mold is mounted on the fixed platen. During injection molding, the moving and fixed molds close to form the gating system and the cavity. When the mold opens, the moving and fixed molds separate to remove the plastic product.

 

Although the structure of a mold can vary greatly depending on the type and properties of the plastic, the shape and structure of the plastic product, and the type of injection molding machine, the basic structure remains consistent. A mold mainly consists of a gating system, a temperature control system, molding parts, and structural parts. Among these, the gating system and molding parts are the parts that directly contact the plastic and vary depending on the plastic and the product. They are the most complex, the most variable, and require the highest surface finish and precision in the mold.

 

The gating system refers to the runner system before the plastic enters the cavity from the nozzle, including the main runner, cold slug well, branch runners, and gate. Molding parts refer to the various components that shape the product, including the moving mold, fixed mold, cavity, core, molding rod, and vents.
